The Season Begins: Dubai’s Finest Beach Clubs

The heat has lifted and the shoreline is calling. Here is where to spend your winter days by the sea.

The first cool morning of the season changes the whole city. Terraces open, lunches lengthen, and a coastline that sat almost empty through the summer fills again with people who have waited months for it.

These are the beaches and beach clubs we suggest most often, and how to enjoy each at its best.

When Dubai’s beach season begins

The season opens in November and runs until March. January is the coolest month, with daytime highs of around 24°C, and the sea settles near 22°C: refreshing rather than cold.

December brings the longest lunches and the busiest weekends, so early mornings and weekdays are the quietest times to go.

The beaches

An empty beach at first light, a towel and straw bag on pale sand beside calm water and a line of palms

Black Palace Beach

Where: a quiet turn off Al Sufouh Road.

Best for: an early swim, with the water almost to yourself.

There are no shops and no music. Bring your own shade and arrive early.

A family walking hand in hand along a sheltered sandy bay at sunset, with palms and parasols behind

Al Mamzar Beach Park

Where: the Deira side of the city.

Best for: families, lifeguards, shaded lawns, pools and calm water.

Five sheltered bays sit within landscaped parkland, each holding Blue Flag status for water quality and safety. There is a small entry fee for the park.

Kitesurfers on turquoise water beside a wide beach, with a runner on the track

Kite Beach

Where: Umm Suqeim.

Best for: a morning run, then breakfast on the sand.

The city’s most active beach is at its best early, when kitesurfers take to the water and the running track is still cool. Leave before the late-morning crowds.

Jebel Ali Beach

Where: the southern edge of the city.

Best for: space, quiet and, in winter, camping beside the sea.

One of the last entirely free stretches of shoreline. It is wide, wild and peaceful.

The beach clubs

DRIFT Beach

Setting: One&Only Royal Mirage.

Best for: the calmest day at a grand beach club.

A long infinity pool, a kilometre of private sand and a Mediterranean kitchen, set in the gardens of one of Dubai’s most established resorts. Reserve ahead, particularly at weekends.

Nammos

Setting: Four Seasons Resort Dubai at Jumeirah Beach.

Best for: a long beachfront lunch.

The Mykonos original brought to Jumeirah. Book the table rather than the lounger, and let the afternoon take its course.

Twiggy by La Cantine

Setting: Park Hyatt Dubai, on the Creek.

Best for: a late lunch, away from the coast.

A south of France spirit and a 100-metre infinity pool: a quieter alternative to the open Gulf.

SĀN Beach

Setting: the far end of Palm West Beach.

Best for: design, a slower afternoon and the sunset.

A jungle-inspired retreat, with sister clubs in Miami and Cannes. Come for the afternoon and stay for the sunset over the water.

A winter beach day, arranged

The best beach days are decided the evening before. Your lifestyle manager secures the loungers or the table, arranges a car for the morning and a later collection, and remembers how you like the day to run, so the next one is ready without asking.

Mornings by the water. Afternoons at the table. Your day, handled.

Before you go

Book ahead. At the beach clubs, the best loungers and tables at weekends are often taken days in advance.

Dress for the sand, then the city. Swimwear belongs on the beach and by the pool, with a light cover-up for anywhere beyond.

Respect the midday sun. Winter light is gentler, yet still strong enough around noon to call for a wide-brimmed hat and a little shade.

Go early. The public beaches are at their calmest in the early morning, and on weekdays.

Quietly asked

When is the best time to visit Dubai’s beaches?

From November to March. Daytime temperatures sit between roughly 24 and 26°C, and the sea is between 22 and 25°C, ideal for swimming and long lunches outdoors.

Are Dubai’s public beaches free?

Most are. Some beach parks, such as Al Mamzar, charge a small entry fee, and beach clubs charge for day access or a minimum spend.

Do Dubai beach clubs need a reservation?

In winter, and especially at weekends, yes. The best loungers and tables are often reserved days ahead, so book early or ask your lifestyle manager to arrange it.

Which Dubai beach clubs suit a quieter day?

DRIFT, Nammos, Twiggy by La Cantine and SĀN Beach lean towards long lunches and calm afternoons.

Is it warm enough to swim in Dubai in winter?

Yes. The sea stays at around 22°C even in January, cool enough to refresh and warm enough to linger.

We would love the opportunity to learn about your world.
